There’s a New Moon lighting up your 10th house of career and worldly standing on July 4th, Libra Rising, and that makes it the perfect time to begin a new job or project. For some people it could also indicate a change to how the world sees you such as starting a family. Venus, the Goddess of love and attraction, along with chatty Mercury will be bracketing this new moon much like a pair of bookends.

What I see in the middle of these Cancerian bookends is a new beginning and that has much to do with a fresh start at work. You could begin working on a group project that requires a lot of planning or you might simply decide it is time to take a position elsewhere. The family vibe is also strong since the New Moon is in Cancer and the 10th house equates to how others see you. This could indicate a period of family planning or perhaps an aging parent is moving into your home so that you can care for them. (Pluto opposition in the 4th house).

Whatever is going down, there is a need for you to connect with your tribe and to talk things out. Venus should give you the charm, grace and ability to empathize with people and Mercury is there to help you communicate on a heart-felt level. Your emotional intelligence is the key to your success right now, in all endeavors.

Pluto will be opposing this New Moon energy from within your 4th house which governs your home, how you were raised, your family roots and the past, how you live behind closed doors as well as your psychological underpinnings. Often it also represents your mother, your country of origin and even how you feel about the nation you call home.

Pluto is an ass-kicking little planet and he does have a tendency to unearth things we’d rather keep secret. Manipulative energy, blackmailing, power struggles and the darker side of the human psyche are just a few of the punches that Pluto packs. So how is his opposition to this New Moon going to affect your life?

Well, if a parent has moved in with you, you will need to be extremely patient with the controlling energy you may witness. Old issues or secrets from your family’s past could get revealed thus having an impact on how others in the world see you. One example of this could be you discovering who your actual birth parents were…thus opening a new page in your family history.

If harnessed wisely, you could also use this energy to delve into your subconscious mind to change scripts from the past that no longer serve you. Is there a way to reframe some of your childhood experiences so you can feel stronger? Life is like a great furnace…it can forge us into stronger, more psychologically sound and wise beings if we allow it to. Forgiving can begin that process of growing stronger.

Look to your past and see if you can notice the blessings earned from some of your tough experiences with family, country or home. Reach out for help if you need support along the way (New Moon in 10th house). So many veterans give their all so we can enjoy freedom. Shouldn’t we as a country do what we can to help them reintegrate when they come home?

Strong feelings of nationalism could also surface with this placement. Considering this is the 4th of July, this is not too surprising, but with Pluto’s presence there can be compulsive urges to take things to extremes. If you feel like your country has fallen apart, you may feel driven to smash or disrupt those structures that have gone astray (Pluto in Capricorn in the 4th) so a new world order can be birthed. Naturally, I would advice against this.

Lately I have heard some rather crazy rhetoric from people who steep themselves in basement “tv” shows that have the false appearance of being news. If you are one of these people, I could only encourage you to take a broader look around and to listen to a variety of news sources so you can get a balanced perspective on what is happening. That is not to say that everything is perfect where you live…for in most places it is not, but a wise soul should seek information broadly in order to ascertain some semblance of the truth.

Pluto in the 4th house can also cause disruptions to a person’s home or property. Under extreme cases it can necessitate leaving your country of origin. War refugees fleeing their homeland for a new place to live would be another example of how this energy could manifest for some people in the world.

Though some of these examples seem rather dark, there is always hope for Pluto desires above all else to transform a situation. Our realities have so much to do with how we choose to think about things. You can either dive into the muck or you can search for pearls. With Pluto in the 4th house, you may have to go through some of the muck in order to find that bright, pearlescent ray of light. My hope is that you will take this message and show up with a beautiful pearl in your out-stretched hand after a period of soul-searching.

With a Moon/Pluto opposition, you should have the ability to drill to the core of any issue that is confronting you. Are you being too hard on yourself, your ancestors or your upbringing? Is it possible that they were doing the best they could under difficult circumstances? How can you shore up your own emotional well-being so you can break any family cycles you are weary of? Can you look at your country and see the beauty as well as the atrocities?

If you don’t like what you see, how can you change things in some humanitarian fashion? Engage that heart-felt energy the Cancer New Moon is pouring out and find a positive way to make a difference. Support organizations that feed the this country or another. Consider buying a service dog for a veteran with post traumatic stress disorder. Work at a grass-roots level to effect change legally, in a positive manner. Open your heart to new beginnings and allow miracles to happen within your own family.

On the 12th of the month, Venus will enter Leo and for many of you that will light up your 11th house of friendships, group affiliations, dreams and long-range plans. Reach out to friends and groups that are supportive of your goals. If you are trying to make a difference in the world, network with organizations that can bring about positive change.

Mercury, the planet of communications, will saddle up next to this Leo Venus on the 13th. This is a great time to network and plan with like-minded people. Talk to those you are close to and gather advice. Set realistic goals and take steps towards making your dreams a reality. Everything we achieve in life starts with one simple thought. Pour energy, emotion and time into developing that thought and soon it is a reality! With this placement, joining forces with others can multiply your efforts tenfold.

On the 19th, a Full Capricorn Moon will light up that 4th house where you have been striving for transformation. Under the light of this silvery moon you should have a good idea of where you stand regarding your home, family matters, national interests and your own mental, emotional and psychological well-being. Expect emotions to run high for something important will be revealed or is coming to a point of culmination.

For some of you, a family secret could be revealed thus churning up the past. Parental issues will come to light for others, showing you how you can best move forward with their care. A certain number of you will feel compelled to take steps towards righting political wrongs so you can improve national interests. Hopefully many of you will attend to healing your inner wounds so that you can forgive, let go and become a stronger person in the process.

Though Pluto is involved, don’t expect the worst….so much of how this will play out depends upon what you’ve been up to in your life. It could, for example, indicate you gaining more self-awareness regarding your past and family history. By learning to love the fiery furnace of your ancestry, you can gain great inner strength and wisdom, for it has forged you into who you are. Maybe this Moon shines a light on the positive steps you can take to make your country a better, more loving and peaceful place to live.

On the 22nd of the month, the Sun will move into Leo, into your 11th house where he will join up with Mercury and Venus. This is time to network, network, network. If you started a new job or project your social skills are really needed in order to carry things through so you can shine. Polish off your diplomacy skills and work on group dynamics in order to see your project through.

If you are working on bettering where you live, connect with groups and organizations that can help you to make a difference. Use the power of the internet, Facebook and social media to share your thoughts with a broad audience. If, on the other hand, you are reaching out for to heal old, personal wounds, this is also a great combination for finding support groups that can make a difference in your life.

Uranus, that maverick planet of surprises, will go retrograde on the 29th. For the majority of you, this will bring revelations and/or renovations to your 7th house. This part of your chart affects your closest partnerships including lovers, spouses, business associates and life-long friends.

He is there to encourage you to metamorphose your relationship patterns and to bring forth a more authentic version of yourself. The developmental aim of Aries, which is the sign Uranus is currently transiting through, is to foster courage…so how can you bravely change how you interact with others to better draw in the kinds of partners you desire? Maybe you would benefit from dating someone from a different background or age group than normal? How can you alter your dating patterns so that you can have more of your needs met? What do you truly want and desire in a relationship? With Uranus churning up all of these issues, this is a perfect time to rethink what is important.

Jupiter and the North Node of the Moon are surfing through your 12th house right now and this combo wants to deliver blessings into your life. If you’ve been holding onto family grudges or anger against your country, this is the perfect time to work on forgiving. If a primary relationship has been dissolved in the last few years, this is a great time to release hurts regarding the disruption that brought into your life.

The 12th house is a spiritual place. It is also a place where we can connect with the collective consciousness. By recognizing the totality of all that’s been and all that can be, it makes sense to leave an energy trace of positivity in the Universe for others to draw upon in the future.

Whatever is happening in your life right now, it is occurring for the purpose of bringing out your higher self. You can either let Pluto crush you from the ground floor up or you can harness his transformative powers to build a solid cornerstone upon which you can stand. I get a strong sense that forgiveness is an important aspect of pouring this mortar, so allow Jupiter to work his magic by working with him.

With a Virgo Mercury cruising through your 12th house on July 30th, you have plenty of time to contemplate these matters. Words can imprison us or free us, so choose them wisely. What you say to yourself is important for it solidifies your thoughts on a subconscious level. How you interact with others matters too. Remember, family members are vulnerable to all of our thoughts. What are you choosing to put out into the Universe? Is that what we would really like to leave behind?

Words have the power to heal if used discerningly. Offer up a prayer this month, Libra Rising, and see if forgiving and letting go don’t provide you with the fresh start you so desire to see within your family, home and the quiet recesses of your own mind. Peace is yours for the asking.
