There’s a New Moon lighting up your 11th house of friends, group affiliations and long-term plans on July 4th, Virgo Rising, and that makes it the perfect time to create a vision board and to dream big. Venus, the Goddess of love and attraction, along with chatty Mercury will be bracketing this new moon much like a pair of bookends.

What I see in the middle of these bookends is a new beginning and that beginning has much to do with a friendship, a family matter or a goal you have sought after. A new friend could walk into your life or this could simply represent a fresh start with someone close to you. With both Venus and Mercury in the mix, it is important for you to talk things out on a heart-felt level if you are starting over with someone. By being open and honest and sharing your emotions, you can breathe new life into a meaningful partnership.

This New Cancer Moon energy could also have something to do with your family. That could include family planning, letting your kids know how much they mean to you or even represent a fresh start for those you love. Setting aside financial resources for long-term family goals is another possible manifestation of this energy.

Pluto will be opposing this New Moon energy from within your 5th house which governs children, lovers, creative projects and the businesses that you own. With this energy here, you can feel an overwhelming need to be admired or appreciated by others. Too much of this needy energy can hamper relationships with kids, lovers, family members and even close friends so perhaps this New Moon energy is about setting a new tone within those relationships. When you learn to love and accept yourself, you may find that you need less outward reassurances from others.

This opposition could also represent a new romance but with Pluto in the mix, beware of power games between you and your lover. Pluto can be quite obsessive in his wants, desires and passions. What he wants, he wants intensely and he is not above being under-handed in order to obtain that which he holds dear. Remember, Pluto abducted Persephone into the underworld after first enticing her with flowers. Once trapped, he refused to relinquish his lover to the upper world. It took hell-raising Ceres to partially undue his grasp and she caused this by casting a famine upon the earth. With starvation threatening the world, Ceres, Persephone’s mother, finally forced Pluto to agree to a 50-50 time share.

If you believe in myths (and I do) then you should expect some manipulations, secrets, jealousy and power-plays to emerge when it comes to those long-term dreams you hold so dear. Maybe this will play out with a lover, a friend or some group or organization. Since Cancer energy is involved, children and family matters are also highlighted.

The 5th house also rules creativity so you could be feeling a strong need to express yourself in a manner that draws admiration and attention, thus forwarding some inner dream/compulsion you have of being noticed.

Use the energy mindfully and you could transform any situation that has been plaguing you. It will, however, require planning (Mercury) and a need to talk things out with those you love (Venus in Cancer). Try dropping the power plays and get real instead and see if that doesn’t bring you closer to that which you desire.

With a Moon/Pluto opposition, you should have the ability to drill to the core of any issue that is confronting you. Are you being too hard on friends? Are your long-term goals realistic or do you need to redefine what’s important? Are you pushing your kids too hard? What could you do that would turn your family’s situation around? Do you try to validate your sense of self worth by looking to others for approval? These are just a few questions that pop into my mind.

Whatever is stirring in your life, this New Moon represents a time to get clear on your goals and what you hope to accomplish. Pluto is there to encourage transformation.

On the 12th of the month, Venus will enter Leo and for many of you that will light up your 12th house of spirituality. Have you been grasping onto the things you desire so hard that you feel like you are losing control? Maybe it’s time to relinquish that grasp a bit and recognize that everything happens for a reason. There is a bigger picture to our lives and sometimes when we don’t get the things we want it is for very good reasons.

Mercury, the planet of communications, will saddle up next to this Leo Venus on the 13th. This is a great time to talk to a spiritual counselor or to take a quiet walk in the woods so you can mull things over in peace. If you are setting the stage for a new beginning in your life, use this energy to think about how you can go about things differently to achieve a better outcome.

On the 19th, a Full Capricorn Moon will light up that 5th house where you have been striving for transformation. Under the light of this silvery moon you should have a good idea of where you stand regarding lovers, children, your deep-seated need to be admired or regarding a male friend. Expect emotions to run high for something important will be revealed or is coming to a point of culmination.

For some of you, this could herald in some news regarding a close friend, lover or child. It could also reveal where you stand within your company. Are you getting the attention you desire from your career or do you feel more or less like a number? Are your creative talents being encouraged or swept aside? Maybe some important family matter will come to light so you can better understand the dynamics at play. Can you somehow transform the way you express yourself to enhance your ability to accomplish those long-range plans you hold so dearly? These are a few questions that pop into my mind as I see this configuration.

Though Pluto is involved, don’t, however, expect the worst….so much of how this will play out depends upon what you’ve been up to in your life. It could, for example, also indicate you gaining more self-awareness. By learning to love who you are on the inside, you could find that you really don’t need outward validation from people at work.
Maybe this shines a light on how you can be creative for the pure sake of having fun with your talents without worrying about what anyone else thinks.

Perhaps you recognize that improving family matters will first require building up your own self-esteem. Allowing for a fresh start in a friendship could also become a pivotal point for you to improve how you interact with others.

On the 22nd of the month, the Sun will move into Leo, into your 12th house where he will join up with Mercury and Venus. Quiet time should be high on your list of priorities right now so you can mull over all that you’ve recently learned. Retreats, meditation classes or quiet walks on the beach would be very soul-soothing at this time. Get in touch with your spirit and find some down time.

Uranus, that maverick planet of surprises, will go retrograde on the 29th. For the majority of you, this will bring revelations and/or renovations to your 8th house. This part of your chart rules over some power-packed issues including: life, birth, death, sex, intimacy, taboos, taxes, inheritances, other people’s money, joint finances, deep psychological needs and life transformations.

He is there to encourage you to metamorphose your life. What part of you needs the most attention? Is it building self-esteem and self-worth (Pluto in the 5ht)? Do you need to change how you approach intimate partnerships? Could working on family matters have a positive influence (11th house New Moon)? What are your deepest psychological needs…and more importantly how are you going about having those needs met (Uranus in Aries in the 8th house)?

Jupiter and the North Node of the Moon are surfing through your 1st house right now and this combo wants to deliver blessings into your life. To do so, however, you need to hold a looking glass up to all of your relationships so you can learn from what you see. If you worked on your outward expression with others, how would that impact your goals and dreams? If you focussed on bettering/developing yourself, would that improve your standing with your company? With Jupiter in Virgo, nothing comes without hard work. Focus on developing better schedules, work habits, outward expression and job related skills and see what that does to improve your world and long-range dreams.

Just as Jupiter is working on us, Uranus dares us to break the rules and to bring forth a more authentic version of ourselves. If you aren’t happy with power games with lovers or children now is the perfect time to change. If your partnership needs aren’t being met, how can you alter your intimacy patterns to improve matters? If finances have been upsetting the apple cart, how can you invest your creative talents to win rewards at work? Maybe you are working on overhauling some child-rearing practices so you can set your family on a better course. If so, that is great! Uranus wants you to think outside of the box in order to herald in change.

Whatever is going down, it is happening for the purpose of bringing out your higher self. I am getting the sense that the most important thing for you in July, Virgo Rising, is to love and appreciate yourself. Work on building confidence and self-esteem and see if that doesn’t rocket fuel your life into a better direction.

With a Virgo Mercury cruising through your 1st house on July 30th, you have plenty of time to contemplate these matters. There is a new you that wants to be born and Uranus is encouraging that evolution. Craft a plan that will enable you to reach your most heart-felt goals whether that is meeting a lover that adores you, starting a meaningful friendship or joining a support group that helps you to tackle your goals. Maybe this plan entails improving your interactions with others for an overall happier life.

Though I get the sense that many things are on the plate for you this month, building self-worth and self-esteem are key elements to your evolution. Learn to love and appreciate yourself and watch your dreams unfold.
