Though we may sometimes feel that “the Gods must be crazy,” we can learn to harness luck in our lives by working with Jupiter. That way, when coke bottles fall out of the sky, we know what to do with them! Jupiter, as a benefic planet, enables us to dream big, to explore reality outside of our normal boundaries and to have hope. It also inspires us to embody our highest selves and to work towards the betterment of society.
Since Sagittarius rules the lovely planet of rings, themes such as higher education, the courts, cultures around the world and belief systems can also come into play when Jupiter zooms one of our houses. Though it is possible to overdo things when the planet of expansion and growth is around, it does tend to bring a measure of luck with it, so long as we are doing the work.
Jupiter feels at ease when it visits the ninth house, for this is Sagittarius’s true home. Many call this house the road to God for it does show how we seek the Divine. With Jupiter touring this house, finding God becomes an Holy Grail quest. Your expansive search for the truth could lead you on a globe-trotting adventure where you seek answers from a variety of cultures, religions, teachers, philosophies and even universities abroad.
Discovering your true, inner you could land you in an Indian ashram, a Thai meditation center, or even a dance church or Sufi spinning session. The road to God, with this placement, is not necessarily a paved, yellow brick road that leads you straight to the truth. Rather, it is an adventure that encourages you to explore many cultures and traditions in order to find wisdom. Visits to Stonehenge, the great pyramids of Egypt, or at a call to prayer could be in order. Likewise, you could find yourself peering at the stars or hiking in outdoor churches in order to find the answers you seek. Though I doubt your quest will ever end with Jupiter here, your mind and sense of spirituality will be broadened by the very act of seeking for you desire to see the big cosmic picture.
Broadening your mind with higher education could also be in order when Jupiter tours the 9th house. Education and philosophy fall under this umbrella and you could find great luck in your life by seeking out the right teachers. Other cultures and ways of looking at things could lead you across seas to study with the right person. Subjects that could interest you include the law, healing modalities that focus on the mind-body-spirit connection, philosophy or working with the media. Your propensity for writing and broadcasting could also land you a job in publishing and you will likely enjoy influencing worldly opinions with your knowledge. Teaching or working as a travel agent are other career options that could suit your soul. Once you have mastered your higher education, you are likely going to beam back your wisdom to the world.
Big travel plans could also unfold when Jupiter tours your 9th house. Unless otherwise aspected, fun and adventure could be yours as you explore the world on a long distance trip. Backpacking adventures to other countries could light your soul on fire and you will certainly learn a lot from intermingling with the natives. I’ve been fortunate to have traveled several times in my life and those adventures were life-changing. Not only did I learn a lot just by seeing how other people live, but I witnessed some pretty amazing things that changed my world view. For example, I watched an entourage of Buddhists walk across red-hot coals without burning their feet! Journeys such as this are very mind-expanding for those who open themselves up to global adventure.
Foreign connections and friends from other backgrounds could also bring a lot of joy into your life. The expatriate life could appeal so much that you pull up roots and relocate to another country. Though this may suit you well, family and friends from home could find your decisions wanting. When it comes to education, there can be a downside to Jupiter here as well. It’s very important for the Archer to aim his arrow to bring down what he seeks…but with Jupiter here, you may have a strong desire to learn everything! Lack of focus could cause your university stay to lengthen considerably. Meanwhile you rack up college bills. Though I am an absolute advocate of world travel, danger can be encountered anywhere under the wrong planetary alignments. So, as you can see, there are a few potential downsides to this wanderlust configuration.
Life has its share of random coke bottles. If you feel like a coke bottle has landed on your head when Jupiter is in the 9th you will intuitively know that the Gods aren’t crazy, despite the knock you just got on your noggin. Likely, you will pick up the bottle or gauntlet and seek the deeper meaning of your life, for you know you have a purpose. Finding that purpose makes the quest worth all of the trouble as you pursue wisdom from one end of the globe to the other. In the end, you are likely to find God along the road as well as your own true self.
