CAVEGIRL: This One’s For You

Pluto is an ass kicking planet. He means business and basically demands that change happen in your life. You can either learn to go with the flow or, like a volcano, he will spit fire and globs of molten lava into your life, causing you to sprint for cover. Nothing shy of transformation will suffice! Get with it or get plowed under. That’s what Pluto is about. If you are cooperating with this energy, life will proceed more smoothly but if you are living a life out of balance, prepare to be steam-rolled.

Normal is no fun to blog about, so let’s take a look at what Pluto looks like when he is rampaging through someone’s houses on a transit. Why, you ask? Well, for starters it might help you to gain compassion and understanding for the person’s obsessive behaviors. If you are close to the person, you might even be able to help. Think intervention! But remember, what seems like a horror show to you may be exactly what that person needs to go through in order to turn their lives around. Thirdly, red flags are posted so you can avoid some potential land mines at work and in your relationships. Lastly, it is just kind of secretively interesting, is it not?

I find it fascinating! And yes, when folks are out of balance, Plutonic crises emerge. Ego-deaths result. Things that no longer serve us well pass out of our lives…sometimes gnashing and clawing on the way out. Emotions boil and we subconsciously attract situations that will allow us to kill off the dead wood in our lives. Pluto demands that we dig deep to find our potential. That potential may be to heal, to release limiting thoughts, to tap into our true strength and inner voice. Hidden complexes from childhood resurface as we plunge into this blast furnace of transformation. If you are living in denial, change may not come gracefully, but with fists shaking, while you hurl curses into the wind.

So when Pluto runs amuck, life gets REAL interesting. We’re going to do this series of “Pluto runs Amuck,” on a house by house basis. In the 10th house, career, reputation and how the world sees you is impacted. With Pluto in the 10th house, you may feel driven to speak out about issues that need to be dealt with on the working front. Leadership ability is strongly inclined with this placement and sometimes gaining power and position means confronting difficult issues head on. Breaking through taboos has its place with Pluto in the 10th so you could see talented women or minorities busting glass ceilings, much to the chagrin of the patriarch.

Dirty politics is a Pluto problem that can emerge in the 10th house. Pluto in Capricorn means big business and lots of elbow digs could be going on behind the scenes while people vie for power. Be careful not to sell your soul in order to get ahead. You may look back and wonder where you lost who you really were. That brings up another manifestation of this planetary placement and that is to find work that is soul-driven. You may choose to drop the glitzy trappings and power to find a way that authentically serves the world by offering up your unique set of talents. True power comes from aligning our spiritual selves with our world calling…and sometimes that means you have to dump the secure job to be who you were meant to be.

Integrating your philosophy into your outward expression to the world is also important. Lessons of discipline and self-determination become paramount, but don’t let your ambitions run amuck. There is a difference between “working within the system” versus “working the system” to your advantage. With a rampaging Pluto in the 10th, there can be a tendency to avoid the lessons of discipline in favor of getting your way by manipulating others or playing hard-ball to claw your way to the top of the corporate ladder. Taking responsibility for your actions thus becomes an important part of your learning curve.

Besides work, Pluto in the 10th house may also cause feelings of confusion over gender. If you buy into the belief that we are reincarnated many times then it stands to reason that in other lives, you may have been another gender as well as race. If you feel a bit like you aren’t in the right body, it could be that you are adjusting to a different gender in this life. Naturally, that could be tough. If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, but you are feeling Plutonian…well, Pluto is an ass kicker, what can I say? Loads of issues could surface, but not to worry. Your soul knows the right path and you are here to learn, so you will find the right way and will make whatever adjustments are necessary. (Example: Though I’m a woman, I have loads of male energy in my chart. My husband is a triple Cancer so he has predominantly feminine energy. Call us the odd couple, but it works, we balance each other out. Plus, who knows? Maybe we have both recently switched sides and are adjusting to another point of view. What greater lesson could there be?)

No matter where Pluto falls into the chart, power struggles can and often do emerge. Since the 10th house often represents the mother, you may have experienced a rather tight-fisted mom in your life. Since power plays and domination were something you grew up with, it becomes necessary for you to claim your own power so you don’t attract it in dark ways from power-hungry monsters at work. What we don’t own, we often project and with Plutonian struggles, you may feel blocked at work or unable to achieve your highest potential if you haven’t learned to harness your own steam. A fall from grace is also possible if you are not careful. My best advise here is to avoid falling in love with the boss or getting involved in messy games with the board of directors. These folks play hard-ball and they will think nothing of steam-rolling your life to better their own position if it serves them or the company.

Since Pluto often brings an ending to things, it can also indicate that a career change (or climb to power) is in order. If your soul wearies of work related battles or over-bearing authority figures, you might decide to turn in your 401K for a cooking job on a Dude Ranch in Montana, or any other thing that brings meaning and soul-purpose into your life. If you still have unresolved issues with an over-bearing parent, make peace if you can for with Pluto passing through this house, the health of either of your parents could be negatively impacted…and you may lose the chance to mend bridges. Forgiving someone is one of the most powerful things you can do in this lifetime.

Two final thoughts of wisdom for Pluto in the 10th: Play by the rules and remember the old addage, “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” – and- Claim your own power in your own, unique fashion.

    THANK YOU!!!
Dead wood in life has been chopped to pieces, ready for life to get REAL interesting! Will definitely hold on to my soul though and not sell it to anybody.

PS. Now I realize why I enjoy House of Cards and Kevin Spacey’s dirty politics so much these days.
