Pluto is an ass kicking planet. He means business and basically demands that change happen in your life. You can either learn to go with the flow or, like a volcano, he will spit fire and globs of molten lava into your life, causing you to sprint for cover. Nothing shy of transformation will suffice! Get with it or get plowed under. That’s what Pluto is about. If you are cooperating with this energy, life will proceed more smoothly but if you are living a life out of balance, prepare to be steam-rolled.
Normal is no fun to blog about, so let’s take a look at what Pluto looks like when he is rampaging through someone’s houses on a transit. Why, you ask? Well, for starters it might help you to gain compassion and understanding for the person’s obsessive behaviors. If you are close to the person, you might even be able to help. Think intervention! But remember, what seems like a horror show to you may be exactly what that person needs to go through in order to turn their lives around. Thirdly, red flags are posted so you can avoid some potential land mines at work and in your relationships. Lastly, it is just kind of secretively interesting, is it not?
I find it fascinating! And yes, when folks are out of balance, Plutonic crises emerge. Ego-deaths result. Things that no longer serve us well pass out of our lives…sometimes gnashing and clawing on the way out. Emotions boil and we subconsciously attract situations that will allow us to kill off the dead wood in our lives. Pluto demands that we dig deep to find our potential. That potential may be to heal, to release limiting thoughts, to tap into our true strength and inner voice. Hidden complexes from childhood resurface as we plunge into this blast furnace of transformation. If you are living in denial, change may not come gracefully, but with fists shaking, while you hurl curses into the wind.
So when Pluto runs amuck, life gets REAL interesting. We’re going to do this series of “Pluto runs Amuck,” on a house by house basis. Since I am currently witnessing someone who has a 6th house transiting Pluto that is on a bender, let’s start there. What might you expect if Pluto is running amuck in the house of servants?
The first question to ask with this position is “What master do you serve”? In house 6, it is likely that you have made work the God in your life. Being obsessed with organizational detail becomes a problem. Issues of servitude and humility become prominent and you may spend a good deal of time making sure that everyone knows you are the boss by firmly placing your steel-shanked army boots onto the heads of those who work beneath you.
You may challenge those you work with to rise up and stop being a victim. Power struggles at work turn nasty. There may be a tendency to treat those who work for you as slaves, hence the word subjugation takes on real meaning. Being over-burdened with too many responsibilities can consume every waking moment. You may find yourself living a life where you bow down to all mighty work so much, that there is very little life energy left for anything else. Illness often results as the mind, the body and the spirit revolt against the pressure.
Sometimes this planetary position also involves the native in the seedier side of dealing with employees. Ugly issues such as bullying and deceit may emerge and need to be dealt with. Dealing with these tough issues can cause deep-rooted fear to take hold. By engaging in these darker realms of employee relations, you may become afraid that you will be attacked by others. Power can be wielded in a way to protect yourself while causing humiliation to others. The root of this problem is fear…fear that you will get in trouble, fear that you will be outed, fear that the way you have been doing business unethically will get exposed or simply fear that others are joining up against you.
Pluto here will cause the native to investigate their actions and motivations with laser like vision. In the process, they may become hyper-critical of themselves and also of others. Sharp comments and shrapnel-laden emails leak out some of the poison the person is harboring inwardly. Guilt and feelings of inadequacies boil over and the person tends to focus too much on their shortcomings.
The root problem, lurking at the bottomless pit of these woes, is that the native has invested all of their time and energy into work. So much personal sacrifice has left a gaping hole in the person’s life. Without work, there is nothing. No God. No time for family or friends. No meaning. Nothing to enjoy. Since there is such a void in the person’s life, they become a workaholic because it is the one thing that fills the abyss. Naturally, if played out too long, this scenario can cause a life-threatening Plutonic illness…the crisis that will force the person to rebalance their energies and to right size their work activities. The person may be forced to restructure their daily activities, to take time off and to seek out other things that bring joy into their lives.
An illness such as this may also force the person to examine exactly who they have made the “God” of their life. Is that God really serving them well? Perhaps it is time to trade in some overtime hours for communion with spirit and the true divine. Releasing toxins through a detoxifying cleanse would be another good use of this energy as would letting go of negative emotions. Harboring harsh emotions over a long period of time is enough to make anyone sick. Returning balance and becoming “whole” should replace the workaholic tendencies if wellness is to be reached…and again, since we are talking Pluto here, he is pretty much going to lower a person to their knees to get what he wants. Make changes willingly or buy yourself some heavy-duty knee pads and prepare to skid! (I’m serious.)
A change in jobs is another way of solving this dilemma. Pluto in the 6th house may be telling you that you are paying way too much for your money. Finding a true way to be of service to the world is the road map out of trouble with this placement. Instead of becoming obsessed with organizational detail, find your inner spark. Listen to what your heart says. How to do you truly want to help the world and those around you? Hear that voice and act on it and your Pluto problems will be resolved. Then, your divine spark will shine through you in the house of work and you will be unstoppable in your ability to empower yourself and others.
Now honestly, doesn’t that sound a whole lot better than buying knee pads?
